About us

A thinking environment for research

ScholarThread exists to close the gap between reading and writing — so that the papers you read, the notes you take, and the ideas you connect live in one place and carry through to the work that depends on them.

Why we built it

Anyone who does serious reading runs into the same problem. You collect references in one tool, read PDFs in another, scribble notes in a third, and highlight in a fourth. Each tool is fine on its own. Together they leak: a highlight loses the sentence it came from, a note forgets which paper prompted it, and by the time you sit down to write, the connections you saw while reading have evaporated.

The reading happened. The synthesis did not. ScholarThread is our answer to that — a single environment where you import your library, read documents in-app, and take notes that stay anchored to their source and linked to each other. The point is not tidiness for its own sake. It is that reading should compound into understanding you can act on.

What we believe

One place for your library

Zotero, OpenAlex, BibTeX, local uploads — your references and their files belong together, not scattered across a folder, a browser and three apps. ScholarThread pulls them into a single working library that mirrors how you already organise your research.

Notes that connect, not collect

A pile of highlights is not a literature review. Notes in ScholarThread link back to the exact passage they came from and to each other, so reading compounds into something you can write from instead of a folder you have to re-read.

Your work stays yours

You can read and annotate on your own device without an account, export your notes any time as an Obsidian-compatible Markdown vault, or sync them to a Git repository you control. Nothing here is a walled garden.

Built for the moments that matter

The literature review, the next paper, the viva. The product is shaped around the real, high-stakes points in a researcher's work — and honest about what is shipped today versus what is still on the roadmap.

Who's behind ScholarThread

ScholarThread is built and operated by MOYD LTD. It grew out of our own frustration with fragmented research tools — we build the product we wanted, and we use it ourselves every day.

We would genuinely like to hear from you: what is working, what is missing, and what would make your research life easier. Every message opens a tracked ticket and reaches the people who build the product.
